G-Spud? The place dedicated to potatoes that offers healthy and gourmet dishes, for a small budget. I had to share this new address with you!

The thing I absolutely love to do in Brussels is having lunch with friends. There are a lot of restaurants, but I’ve just discovered what is likely to become my HQ: G-Spud. The place is run by Géraldine. She travelled quite a bit, especially to Australia, and she noticed something rather paradoxical: Belgium, the potato country, did not have any place dedicated to this product. The idea was to give the potato a new image and to show that this food item was both healthy and delicious. All this in a relaxing and cosy setting, which combines light and natural materials: the ideal setting for a good lunch break.
The G-Spud concept
At G-Spud, all the recipes contain either a classic potato or a sweet potato. It is cooked to perfection and topped with a gourmet salad of your choice. There are quite a lot of recipes, but everyone can compose their own plate as they wish or change the initial recipe a little bit. We tried a ‘Salmon’ classic potato and a ‘Caesar’ sweet potato: both recipes were to die for. What I loved the most was how surprised I was when tasting the dishes. I never really liked potatoes and I was skeptical when I went there. I have to admit, I’ve never loved potatoes that much!
I loved meeting Géraldine, the founder of G-Spud. She exudes passion and invests all her energy to her restaurant. Perfectionist and attentive to detail, she makes sure the quality of each of her products is guaranteed and insists on the ‘homemade’ aspect. She represents all the things I admire: kindness, entrepreneurship, determination and, above all, the work well done.
Another small aspect that I really liked was the quick service and the prices. The formulas on the menu are less than 10 euros, so you can indulge yourself without going broke.
Therefore, G-Spud is a gourmet restaurant I will definitely go back to: for a lovely moment with friends, enjoying a good meal!
